WHAT TO PRAY FOR



Sometimes we quit praying because we can’t think of anything else to pray for, so let me give you a Scriptural list of things to pray for.

  1. Pray for our president and all civil leaders.

    1 Timothy 2:1,2

    "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quite and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

  2. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

    Psalm 122:6

    "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee."

  3. Pray for victory over all sin.

    2 Corinthians 13:7

    "Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest..."

  4. Pray for your own spiritual strength.

    Matthew 26:41

    "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

  5. Pray for complete Sanctification.

    I Thessalonians 5:23

    "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

  6. Pray for more Love, spiritual growth, and break-throughs.

    Philippians 1: 9

    "And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement."

  7. Pray for mercy and comfort.

    Psalm 119:76

    "Let, I pray Thee, Thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to Thy word unto Thy servant."

  8. Pray for courage, strength, and stability.

    Luke 18:1

    "And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint."

  9. Pray for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to know and do the will of God.

    Colossians 1:9

    "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it [your love in the Spirit], do not cease to pray for you, and desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding."

  10. Pray for worthiness and to fulfill God’s will.

    2 Thessalonians 1:11

    "Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power."

  11. Pray that you will be ready for anything.

    Luke 21:36

    [Concerning the tribulations of the end time] "Watch ye therefore, and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

  12. Pray for salvation and protection for family and loved ones---out loud.

    Psalm 55: 16,17

    "As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice."

  13. Pray all the time, give thanks, and rejoice.

    1 Thessalonians 5:17,18

    "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks..."

  14. Pray everywhere with faith against fear and worry.

    1 Timothy 2:8

    "I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."

  15. Pray in the Spirit (with other tongues).

    Romans 8:26

    "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

  16. Pray for interpretation / prophecy.

    1 Corinthians 14:12,13

    "...seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret."

  17. Pray for the sick.

    James 5:14-16

    "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

  18. Pray for evangelists and ministers.

    Matthew 9:38

    "Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into His harvest."

  19. Pray for the messenger and the Message to go forth.

    2 Thessalonians 3:1

    "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you."

  20. Pray for your enemies.

    Matthew 5:44

    "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you."
